Our Community.....
...... where we gather to spend our time together.
As Earth Scientists, we want to gather to learn about and discuss our planet.
This space is our cave, our place to learn, think, and have meaningful conversations about the wonders that are our Earth.

Classroom meeting space
We will meet online in our Canvas LMS class. All enrolled students are automatically given access to the site.
You will need to access the site daily in order to access the daily reading, videos, and assignments. We will also be using the discussion board to discuss various topics. Each week you will need to post a discussion topic according to the given assignment and comment on one other student's post. |
We will have weekly Google Meet calls: In order to get to know each other and further build our community, we will meet on Google Meet once a week. This will enhance the online discussions we have in Canvas. Ms. Ayers, How do we get to know each other?
Your first assignment will be that each person in the class (including me) will create a Canva presentation introducing themselves. You will post this on the Canvas LMS by uploading it to the Introduction assignment.
For your introduction, please include the following information in your Canva presentation:
1. A picture of yourself! - you are meeting new peers
2. What pronouns do you use?
3. Land acknowledgement - research the indigenous peoples upon whose land you are living.
Example: “I would like to acknowledge the traditional, ancestral, unceded territory of the Tutelo,
Cherokee, and Catawba Peoples on which we are learning, working and organizing today."
4. Tell us about where you live? Have you ever moved?
5. Explain your local, regional, and family culture. Use pictures.
6. What is most important to you?
7. What are your hobbies or things you enjoy doing?
8. What is your favorite music? Food?
9. What do you want to learn about in this class? Why?
